Russell Westbrook announced on Wednesday he is partnering with education nonprofit LA Promise Fund to launch a middle school and high school in his hometown of Los Angeles.
Westbrook posted a caption that read “I am excited to announce my @WhyNotFdn is partnering with @LAPromiseFund to launch the Russell Westbrook Why Not? Academy. Creating & supporting educational opportunities for underserved youth has always been my passion & now it is coming to life…this is just the beginning”
NBA players like David Robinson and LeBron James, among others, have helped in partnering with local communities for school education. James Promise’s school in Akron Ohio is funded in part by annual contributions from a trust fund that he’s set up.
