Tiara – What inspired you to start painting and what area were you living in at the time?
Benni O – Murals are just one of the many steps of art. I do all types of art and graphic designs majority of the people like large-format paintings; so, I make sure I please the people. I have been doing art in Atlanta my whole life. In middle school and high school, I won many art awards.
Tiara – Tell me about the places you toured nationally and internationally?
Benni O – I have been on two international tours with Young Thug, and one national tour with him and J Cole. I also went on small tours myself to places like Poland, Europe, Spain, Germany, and other countries in Europe. That’s where most artists travel every summer. We didn’t get a chance to go this summer due to the COVID 19, but we are still promoting the music and reaching all music Genres across the globe.
Tiara – What advice would you give inspiring graphic designers that are trying to break into the industry?
Benni O – Go hard and never give up. Take the time to develop and master your craft. Be the very best that you can be at whatever it is that you are doing. To anyone who wants to be a Graphic Designer put your best foot forward, and showcase your skills. It leads to a lot of open doors when dealing with people.
Tiara – Tell me about your transition to working in the music industry as an Executive Producer, Creative Director, and Manager, how do you incorporate your graphic designs?
Benni O – Being a creator I have a lot of advantages that relate to the music industry, being a Graphic Designer whatever labor, artist or a brand may need when it comes content creating. I started out doing mixtape covers for Waka Flocka & Gucci Mane. I also did Artist and Repertoire work with Grand Hustle, and TI artists; I developed my creative directing and a lot of my music branching was with them. I have been blessed to work with a lot of people in the music industry. I use to do at least ten mixtapes covers in one week, making sure I took care of my clients and fans. Now I have my own label that I’m working on, two developing top tear artists, their graphics, brand, and content, creating, and my large art format paintings.
Tiara – Do you have anyone you want to collaborate with in the near future?
Benni O – I have worked with almost everyone in Atlanta, I have a lot of good friendships with people in the entertainment business. I would like to work with Kanye West with his music, art and fashion. But I’m willing to work with anyone or whoever wants to work with me.
Tiara – Where are some of the places you would like to travel?
Benni O – I have been to almost every continent and country, however I haven’t been to places like South Africa or Jamaica I would also like to travel to different places in South America.
Tiara – How do you feel about the music industry, and do you feel like a lot have changed?
Benni O- The music is a constant evolution, I have been doing my craft with the music for a long time it’s always good to master your craft and evolve with the game, you have to be able to adapt, and hope things keep getting better. It’s a new game, especially with music digital sales. You have to keep going and take advantage of the time to master the craft.
Tiara – What keeps you motivated?
Benni O – My connection with God keeps me motivated, I’m very in tune with myself and spreading love, and being a blessing to other people, and taking care of my family.
Tiara – So far as your paintings did you teach yourself how to paint?
Benni O – No im not self taught I went to The University of Arkansas Pine Bluff Where i obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, now working on my Masters. Its cool to be self-taught but it’s good to go by the standards aswell, and know your art history.
Tiara – What is going through your mind when you’re doing paintings?
Benni O – I’m always thinking about the things I have going next or visualizing things I want to do.
Tiara – You have done so much, what else can we expect from you in the near future?
Benni O- My new music label and artists, more art and murals of course. I have a lot of projects I’m working on. I have a project that I’m doing with the family over at the Trap Museum, I have a few murals that I’m going to donate, charity events, and teach art classes.
