Missy Elliott is ready to receive one of Hollywood’s most prestigious awards. Elliott will now earn the 2708th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, according to Vibe. She is the first female hip-hop artist to be elected into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Ana Martinez, a producer on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, praised the 50-year-old as a trailblazer in a press release announcing the news.
“Missy Elliott has broken down barriers in the male-dominated Hip Hop field, as well as the music industry as a whole, by paving the road for many women to follow in her footsteps, “Martinez remarked. “Year after year, she continues to break limits, and we’re honored to be able to celebrate her on the Walk of Fame.
Ciara and Lizzo, as well as Elliott’s manager, Mona Scott-Young, will host the unveiling event on Nov. 8 in front of the Amoeba Records store at 6200 Hollywood Boulevard. Elliott’s star will be honored in the area of Recording.
Throughout her career, the five-time Grammy winner has broken down barriers. According to Revolt, she is the first rapper to be awarded an honorary doctorate from Berklee College of Music and the third rapper to be admitted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
