When it comes to creating a cohesive project, there are a few components that need to be taken into consideration — production, sequencing, style, and vocal delivery. For immersive St. Louis rapper Rezz, he’s been able to establish all four on his newest EP entitled Buddah. The title comes from a childhood nickname given to him by his late grandfather and is an indication as to what to expect from the full-length project.
On the Buddah EP, Rezz finds his stride in expressing the ins and outs of his hustler lifestyle that comes equipped with fast spending and even faster decision making. On tracks like “Voicemail”, he dispels his own personal experience when it comes to choosing between his personal life and chasing a check. The braggadocious “Swerve”, which features 42 Dugg, acts as the single for the EP with him wrapping up the 10-track project with ”30 for 30” featuring production by 300hz and Zero.
The young rapper worked alongside a number of talented producers like ROCKTEE, CHASETHEMONEY, and Drellonthetrack and worked closely with late engineer Turn Me Up Josh. During their time knowing each other, Rezz was able to witness the young engineer truly perfect his sound and see the passion he had for it. He was the first to come to mind to engineer the Buddah EP but passed away during the middle of the recording process. He was able to provide the ideal template to help the project materialize.
Rezz truly takes the spotlight as his long hours in the studio proved to pay off. He impressively takes full control of handling the engineering and recording of the project, even recording some tracks in his bedroom. The intimate recollection of his day-to-day life is laced with vibrant production and hard-hitting bars that are sure to have you run it back.
