It’s not hard to balance artistry and life when the two easily intertwine and for rapper Rezz, he’s balancing both with ease. His art, parallel to his life, is a story of the hustle and in a short amount of time, Rezz has put in the work to solidify his role in the rap game. You can identify him by the trap melodies that his music exudes, but you’ll grow to love how well the young rapper puts it all on display.
Rezz, whose birthname is Alvarez Jackson, comes out of St. Louis, a city already stamped in the hip hop community. He adds his piece to the equation with his street reminiscent records that have fans relating so well. In a matter of two years, Rezz has already worked with artists like Johnny Cinco, Cal Scruby, YFN Lucci, and Yella Breezy, who he recently linked up with on their collaboration for “Splash”. Tracks like “Splash” have listeners excited to hear who Rezz will work with next, but he definitely has no problem standing on his own. The HENKETOORAW-produced “Summersalt Freestyle” is a prime example of that and his forthcoming EP, Buddah, is set to position him further as an artist to watch.
His upcoming project also shows Rezz’s unique way of connecting with exciting new producers. On the project, he has production assistance from PullUpLam, ChasetheMoney, and worked almost exclusively with Turn Me Up Josh on engineering, who recently passed away. With a solid fan base and network of artists to work with, there’s a clear path for Rezz to succeed.
Rezz recently stopped by The Progress Report Podcast to speak on his experience attending college, support from his hometown, transitioning from sports to music full-time, and his dating life.
