The Other Guy Q & A Interview

Tiara – How did you come up with the name The Other Guy?

The Other Guy – It’s so many things that connect me with that name, and influences I always view myself as The Other Guy.

Tiara – Tell me how it was like growing up in Southern Pines for you after moving from Orange New Jersey?

The Other Guy – My family moved down here when I was younger, and moved to Carthage, than me, and my mother moved to Southern Pines.

Tiara – Who influenced you the most growing up?

The Other Guy – As an adult, I had to come to an understanding that my father I always used to have to seek his approval. Growing up without a father, it’s different, I blamed myself for him not being in my life, even though you don’t know the truth behind it. My father influenced me because he started making music, but it didn’t work out for him, or how his vision is to be, my dad and I are good right now.

Tiara – When did you start rapping?

The Other Guy – I have been rapping for a long time when I was 17 years old that’s when I started to pursue rapping as a career after my mom left I put my career on pause, than at the age of 23 I got back into it.

Tiara – Tell me about the Queen City Awards and what that experience was like?

The Other Guy – Mac Da blacksheep put me on, he connected me to some people; it was a dope experience. Charlotte is the place where I started to push my career. I remember being in Walmart and someone noticed me from the cypher freestyle I was shocked! I would say that was a turning point for me.

Tiara – Will you be going on tour any time soon?

The Other Guy – Yes, once everything opens back up I will be going on tour, I like being out there with the people, and performing for them.

Tiara – Do you have any artists that you want to work with in the future?

The Other Guy –  I’m a fan of Kid Cudi, he creates good music.

Tiara – Tell me about your single ‘Eden’ Featuring Songbird, and how did the collaboration happen?

The Other Guy – My friend Majestic had done a beat, we were both in the studio together, and we had Songbird do some harmonizing. Majestic is a great producer. He knows how to put the sounds together, and it was the right vibe to make music.

Tiara – How did you come up with the name ‘Labyrinth’?

The Other Guy – I have a clothing line called ‘Labyrinth,’ it is a maze but different it’s only one way, which is considered your way, my clothing line will be on my Instagram, and in some local stores.

Tiara – Tell me about your song ‘Ride High’?

The Other Guy – Majestic was playing a beat for me one day, it was a lot going on at the time, and we just made it happen.

Tiara – What makes you stand out from other artists?

The Other Guy – authenticity, and originality; that’s what I observe between other artists and me, some people like to follow the wave. I go out of my way to be different, and I have an issue with doing the same thing that everyone is doing.

Tiara – What can we expect from you in the future?

The Other Guy –  Consistency, when you an independent artist, it cost, I had a nice rhythm going before the COVID-19. I plan on picking up soon with producer Raqqi Chalmers and shooting a lot of visuals, my merchandise, and more.

Tiara – How do you prepare yourself for a performance?

The Other Guy – Whisky and a Blunt, one day I had the best performance, I was not drunk; I felt right, you never want to be drunk while performing, but I’m always critiquing myself.
